Mr Goodpastor's purple 'shelly'? He'd have not looked out of place in Liverpool's Clayton Square shopping centre in about 1988. Especially with those dark shiny curls.

As for your dad's mixtape. Like so much in Joemaddenlore, I would love to hear that tape for myself. Is it still in existence?
And finally, You Can't Beat God's Giving had me in tears. So beautiful. Makes me sad to be a filthy heathen. Praise be!
Another brilliant read, Christian! It brought back some good old memories for me. My grandparents bought me a cassette player when I first started getting into music, and I remember spending hours messing around with it most days. I definitely ruined more than a few cassette tapes in the process.
About 2/3 of the way through that sublime Billy Preston clip, you see a girl in a t-shirt that says "Crack A Bible", and I swear that, just for a moment, I thought "hmm, maybe I should...". What are you doing to us?
I worked in Cologne and Munich so I listened to the BBC and also AFM. What scared me about AFM was the PSA about the percentage of American soldiers who had a drug problems.
