Finally, if you pre-ordered the Extra Weight on vinyl you should have got it today. Yesterday even if you were extra lucky. It’s a fine looking piece of plastic I’m sure you’ll agree. If you haven’t ordered it yet what are you playing at? Get a copy here on Bandcamp or from a proper shop like Rough Trade, Piccadilly Records, Norman’s Records or Tom Friend’s own Friendly Records of Bristol.
The Eagle take two
Our attempt at a live show in July rather embarrassingly failed due to United Utilities failing to restore the water to supply to a significant chunk of Salford. The beer pumps worked but the bogs didn’t and if you’re in the business of hosting people that really won’t do. We’ve rescheduled for Thursday the 9th of November, Thursday is a better gig day than Wednesday so there’s some upside to be had. If you live in the North West of England I do hope you can make it, we sounded amazing at sound check that day honestly.
You can get a ticket in advance here to save the embarrassment of being turned away on the night.
Some more Ribble Valley Soul
If you are a fan of people making soulful music in unlikely corners of the North West then you should take the time to watch Darrell Smith’s frankly jaw-dropping performances from the other week at the BBC Northern Soul prom. In a moment that reads like the script of a musical Rocky (part 1) he was plucked from the obscurity of weekend function gigs round these parts to go down to London and blow the doors off. All the vocalists were excellent but especially Darrell and my good friend (and LG colleague) Frida who told me to listen out for him.
Thanks and see you soon
