Thanks for your comprehensive answers Rob. You're probably right about Jim versus John and Paul but there are some serious influence and personality overlaps. You haven't answered my Scientology question though, come on. Give me your completely unqualified verdict.
I'm tuning back into new music at the moment (after a few years listening to nothing except traditional folk and Bowie) and this blog is opening doors all over the show. But next time tell us about JM's new band *before* they play Manchester, yeah?
I'm yet to read John & Paul. But I will. I too am a big Ian Leslie fan.
I reckon both Lennon and McCartney would have thought Jim Morrison a bit of a 'nob head'. They might have been responsible for triggering a global cultural and artistic earthquake but they were still fairly down to earth Scouse lads and would have had little time for Jim's antics. Although John also got into trouble for getting his nob out. So maybe I'm wrong.
But yeah... In all my Beatle reading I've never encountered any Beatles/Doors Venn Diagram overlap.
I think John would have liked Grease.
I'm pretty sure they will have seen Star Wars. Paul liked it. John thought it was silly.

Sorry Christian. No Beatle was ever approached by Scientology evangelists. But Ringo would be most susceptible. In my opinion.

That's what I reckon.
I'll buy your album on Bandcamp Day.
